Baby Shower Centerpieces

Baby Shower Centerpieces are a good way of telling the new mom and her little bundle of joy “Welcome Home”. Baby shower centerpieces are decorative items placed in the center of a serving table (or tables) at a baby shower event. Expectant mothers are gifted with baby shower centerpieces as a custom. The only thing you need to make sure of, is that the centerpiece does not obstruct the view of people on either side and hence should be low enough, especially if it is a formal dining table style.

Centerpieces can be created from any item such as balloons, flowers, baby toys, stuffed animals and the list goes on. Eye-catching centerpieces don’t need to be expensive. The baby shower centerpieces can be in appropriate colors like pink for girls and blue for boys, though neither is this mandatory nor should it be a limiting factor. There are various ideas of making a centerpiece. The most traditional ones are floral arrangements. Different types and colors of flowers arranged in vases or even unique containers like baby bottles can be attractive. The table size and the size of the flower arrangement should be appropriate, not overwhelming to the guests. Readymade arrangements ordered from the florist may be expensive but are easy going on the new mother as it will save a lot of time. Another simple idea would be to have different shaped balloons tied together and weighed down with a heavy item in the center of the table. However the thread should be long enough so that it does not block conversations. A clear fish bowl filled with colorful marbles, bits of colorful paper and decorated with satin ribbon can do the trick.

Planning baby shower centerpieces can be a creative time too. Edible centerpieces like cakes or artistically cut fruits and vegetables can lend one’s personal touch to the gift. Cakes shaped and colored differently to pull in the whole décor or fruit carvings like a watermelon shaped like a bassinet and filled with fresh fruits or nuts can be placed alongside the food. An extravagant idea would be a chocolate fountain which guests can use to dip fruits or other sweets.

There are contemporary ideas of baby shower centerpieces too such as a bowl of water with floating rubber ducks, empty baby food jars decorated with ribbons and sequins with a votive candle placed inside or even a wreath style decoration using baby toys or teething rings and pacifiers. One centerpiece that will keep guests talking about for a long time is the diaper cake made from disposable diapers or cloth, embellished with ribbons and the like.

Although the name does suggest, baby shower centerpieces need not necessarily be placed in the table center especially if the mother receives many of these as gifts. Arrange the gifts in a stroller or a cradle beautifully and keep it nearby. Clothesline hanging in the room can also serve as pinups for the gifts. Such baby shower centerpieces are not only aesthetically beautiful but also practical.
